Terms of Service — Pantry by Clare
Last Updated: October 3, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Pantry by Clare (the “App” or “Service”), which is operated by Pantry by Clare, LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
When you create or join a household, we record that you accepted these Terms, including the date and time and the version you accepted, so that we can show what you agreed to.
2. Description of the Service
Pantry by Clare helps households track groceries and pantry items, including:
- Automatically adding items by parsing receipts forwarded by email from supported grocery stores
- Automatically adding items by scanning a photo of a receipt from stores that do not offer email receipts
- Estimating expiration dates and sending reminders before items expire
- Suggesting recipes based on items currently in your pantry
- Sharing a household’s pantry with multiple household members
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 17 years old, you may only use the Service with the permission and involvement of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to be bound by these Terms on your behalf, including any subscription and payment obligations described in Section 6. The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
4. Accounts and Households
4.1 Accounts
You must create an account with a valid email address to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
4.2 Households
The Service organizes pantry data into “households.” Each household has one owner (the primary account holder) and may have additional members. All members of a household can view, add, and remove items in that household’s shared pantry, view its purchase history, and see who added each item.
4.3 Trusted Senders
A household owner may authorize specific email addresses (“Trusted Senders”) to submit receipts to the household by email, even if the person at that address is not a household member. An email address may only be a Trusted Sender for one household at a time; the Service will decline to add an email as a Trusted Sender to a household if it is already a Trusted Sender elsewhere, to prevent receipts from being misdirected.
4.4 Ownership Transfer
A household owner may transfer ownership to another household member at any time. Once ownership is transferred, the prior owner becomes a regular member and no longer has the ability to unilaterally delete the household or its data — see Section 8.
5. Receipt Processing
When you forward a receipt email to the Service, or upload a photo of a receipt, the Service processes the content of that email or image (using third-party services described in our Privacy Policy) to identify purchased items, prices, and the store. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you submit. The Service does its best to correctly identify items and prices, but parsing may occasionally be incomplete or inaccurate, and you should review items added to your pantry.
6. Subscriptions and Payment
6.1 Free Trial
New households may use the Service free of charge for one (1) month from the date the household is created (“Free Trial”). No payment is required to begin the Free Trial.
6.2 Subscription Plans
After the Free Trial ends, continued use of the Service requires an active paid subscription, billed per household (one subscription covers every member of that household). Subscription options and current pricing are displayed in the App prior to purchase and may include a monthly and an annual plan.
6.3 Billing Through App Store / Play Store
Subscriptions are sold and billed through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, depending on the platform you use to access the Service. We do not directly process or store your payment information. Your subscription is subject to the payment terms, refund policies, and account settings of the platform through which you subscribed.
6.4 Auto-Renewal and Cancellation
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings (App Store) or Google Play account settings — not within the App itself. Canceling stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund the current billing period unless required by the applicable platform’s policies or by law.
6.5 Changes to Pricing
We may change subscription pricing at any time. Any price change will not affect an already-active billing period, and will only take effect upon renewal, consistent with the applicable app platform’s requirements for notifying subscribers of price changes.
7. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any purpose other than managing your own or your household’s groceries
- Attempt to access another household’s data without authorization
- Submit fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful content
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service’s operation
Fair use: Find a Recipe and other features that rely on third-party services are intended for normal household use. To keep those features available to everyone, we count recipe searches per household each calendar month and may limit or pause recipe searches for a household that exceeds a reasonable monthly allowance. We reserve the right to limit other usage that significantly exceeds typical patterns.
8. Account Deletion
You may delete your account at any time from within the App (Personal Settings → Delete Account). If you cannot access the App, you may instead request deletion at pantrybyclare.com/delete-account or by emailing [email protected] from the address on your account. What happens depends on your role in your household:
- If you are the sole member of your household: deleting your account permanently deletes your account and your entire household’s data, including all pantry items, purchase history, categories, and Trusted Senders. This cannot be undone.
- If you are a member of a household but not its owner: deleting your account removes your membership and access. The household’s shared data — including items you previously added — remains, since it is shared household data, not solely yours.
- If you are the owner of a household with other members: you must first either transfer ownership to another member or remove all other members before you can delete your account. This ensures a shared household is never destroyed or orphaned without the knowledge of the people relying on it.
Deleting your account also permanently deletes your underlying user account and cannot be reversed. Limited backup copies may remain for the period described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. In particular:
- Expiration date estimates are approximations only, based on general category shelf-life data, and do not account for how an individual item was stored, handled, or its actual condition. They are provided for convenience and are not a substitute for your own judgment about whether food is safe to eat. We are not responsible for spoiled, expired, or unsafe food, or any illness or harm resulting from reliance on the Service’s estimates.
- Recipe suggestions are provided by a third-party recipe service and may not account for allergies, dietary restrictions, or ingredient substitutions you may need. Always verify a recipe’s suitability for your own needs before preparing it.
- Receipt parsing may be inaccurate or incomplete. Always review items added to your pantry.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pantry by Clare, LLC, its members, and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
11. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers to function, including email processing, image recognition, recipe data, and (for subscribers) app-store billing. Use of the Service is also subject to the applicable terms of those providers where relevant. See our Privacy Policy for details on which providers we use and what data they process.
12. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its design, software, and branding, is owned by Pantry by Clare, LLC. You retain ownership of the content you submit (such as receipt data and household information), but grant us a license to process it as necessary to provide the Service to you.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time as described in Section 8.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the App or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
